The Role
The internship offered plenty of opportunities to get involved in the company, meet interesting people from a range of sectors and have fun. The interaction with a big group of fellow interns was really comforting, particularly given the move away from my home area.
My work was clearly useful and valued by colleagues, and I was encouraged to become involved in all aspects of company life - both in the office and out. Events to encourage collaboration also meant that I worked with a wide range of individuals, all of which were happy to help and interested in the outcome of my project.
Every intern has a one-to-one supervisor who can be reached on a daily basis to give direction and feedback. While projects gave room for personal interpretation and decision-making, supervisors were also happy to offer any advice when needed.
Very busy - a lot was expected but this also meant you were able to make the biggest impact and feel like you had achieved something. Projects definitely weren't just made up as something for us to do to fill the time, so it was great to have your opinions and ideas carried through, even if it did mean working hard.
I had total control over the direction of my project and what would be required in order to get it done within the timeframe. My supervisor and colleagues were always happy to offer help but it was up to me to choose who to talk to, what supplies to order and how to go about my project, in every respect from scheduling to data acquisition and interpretation.
I learned a lot about company relationships and how to get the most out of a project. It helped build my confidence in tackling new tasks and embracing difficulties that may affect a project. I also learned a wide variety of new methods and aspects of commercial life.
The Company
The office was very sociable, with weekly breakfast / pub trips. Everyone was very friendly and quick to integrate us into the daily routine. Everyone was also incredibly helpful and supportive towards the interns, and would go out of their way to help in any way they could. Higher management were also very supportive and wanted to see us succeed.
Very well organised in all aspects.
We received a lot of training upon entering the company, and were able to request further specific training at any point through the internship.

Plenty of scope for development and a range of opportunities between different brands, departments and even continents. There was a clear progression outlined for those who accept a position and clear assessments of your role and fit within the company. Recruitment staff had discussions with each of us individually to determine what our goals were and how we would best fit in the company should we be offered a full-time position.
The Culture
I had an amazing time with my fellow interns! We had several weekend trips away and several of us lived together and are still in regular contact.
The suggested accommodation was fairly expensive for the area but food, transport and socialising were all very cheap.
Plenty of choice, with a large range of pubs and clubs.
Many sports and social activities organised through the company as well as departmental and intern-organised events.
