Overview
Supporting the front office accountant to ensure tax reporting was highly compliant. Tasks included checking invoices, calculating and submitting reports to external authorities and developing country specific knowledge.
Skills
My placement gave me the chance to develop many new skills. I had the opportunity to present my work to senior management, demonstrate organizational skills as well as own and lead team projects. Due to the level of responsibility I was given, I had the chance to problem solve and show resilience. Collaboration was a large part of my placement allowing me to develop both verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
Yes! I was the owner of many business processes and treated as a valuable member of the team. I was also given the chance to lead team projects.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance while on placement. Not only did my team and manager ensure I was on track but other support mechanisms were put in place to ensure I had the best working experience. For example, I met monthly with my buddy/mentor as well as with the rise up team who were put in place to answer any questions or queries I had.
Culture
The culture at Procter and Gamble was one of trust and support. I feel as though this was truly demonstrated by the way the company dealt with the Covid-19 global crisis, as despite having the work from home I still felt supported.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed working for Procter and Gamble as I got the chance to work in a professional environment as well as make new friends. I developed many organizational skills I could take back to University with me.
