    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I absolutely loved working at RMP Enterprise. During my placement I worked with On-Campus Promotions team, remotely managing students and liaising with top undergraduate employers. I was always encouraged to get involved in activities with other parts of the business , such as marketing campaigns or sales meeting. This really developed my understanding of a business as a whole and developed my skill set when carrying out tasks. There wasn't a day during my placement when I didn't want to go to work, even at 8am on a Monday morning!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From day one the team at RMP Enterprise made me feel welcome and valued! The placement students were always made to feel like full time members of staff and encouraged to give feedback, and suggest ways in which RMP could improve. As well as offering constructive feedback when challenges did arise, RMP always ensured positive feedback was given and successes were shared and celebrated amongst the whole company.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support and guidance received from every member of the RMP Enterprise team was faultless. I was always comfortable asking anyone for advice, whether it be work related, or help settling in to London life! I also received fantastic support and guidance from my manager. We had weekly catch ups to manage my workload and to ensure I was able to complete tasks to the best of my ability. Every three months we also had a performance review, this was to look at my placement on a larger scale. The performance review was a great opportunity to receive feedback on my work and to give my feedback on my experiences so far. Throughout my 13 months with RMP, my manager constantly asked what I would like to get out of my placement and if there was anything she could do to help me achieve this.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Due to the nature of work at RMP Enterprise, this differed from month- month. There were some super busy days, but all my team always pulled together and helped each other out in anyway needed, so I never felt like I couldn't cope with my workload. And during the less busy days, there was always something productive to be done!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • If you're looking for a placement with a company that will let you get stuck in- RMP is for you! I feel like I was given the perfect amount of responsibility during my placement year! With having my own accounts, to writing reports for clients and running events. Although a lot of responsibility was given, I always had someone to ask for advice on how to deal with challenges.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My placement has given me the motivation to really succeed in my third year at university. It has given me professional confidence when interacting with clients, which will really help with my biggest module. It has also developed a number of my skills which are essential in third year, such as; time management, organisation, written communication, creativity and presentation skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • As previously mentioned, there was not a day that I didn't want to go into the office, the main reason for this was my co-workers! Every one would always say 'good morning', make each other a cup of tea/ strong coffee and most importantly- be on hand to help each other out! The atmosphere was really relaxed, with the radio on and the freedom to chat to others around the office. However due to the passion and work ethic of the RMP team, everyone took pride in their work and knew when it was time to knuckle down! We would also have drinks at half 4 drinks in the office every friday!

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The start of the placement was brilliantly organised, the company have a process which every new starter has to go through. This process introduces you to every aspect of the business and an in-depth introduction to your role. The training process also gives you tasks that have to be completed, with detailed instructions on how to do so. I felt fully prepared and trained to start my work.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • RMP had external professional trainers to come in and run sessions with the team. These training sessions would be on topics related to a professional environment e.g working as a team, dealing with conflict and management training.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I made life long friends during my placement and we always planned to do stuff outside of work, whether it be drinks after work, lunch dates, going to the theatre or going on holiday! We also had company socials every 3 months. These were organised by a different social committee and were kept secret until the day of the activity! During my placement we had a company sports day, go ape and went on a pedi-bus around London! The socials were definitely my favourite perk of the placement!

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Since I'm from the North East of England, you can imagine my shock at the price of things in London....but I never struggled with paying rent and socialising!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Well I've got to be honest, I never went out clubbing in Vauxhall, which is where our office was based...but there were cheap and cheerful pubs, which is perfect for after work drinks!

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
