The Role
It is definitely worth going on a placement as the experience, what I learned, and the benefits were uncountable and worthy compared to just going onto your final year.
On my first day a few of the lads took me out for a welcome lunch and made me feel really welcome and part of the team and it continued that way throughout.
I had bi-weekly meetings with my manager to talk about how I was doing and any problems. On any day he was just a knock on the office door away if I needed help.
The work was so enjoyable that the day flew by and I was so invested and immersed in my work that I was always working my best on a project.
After a few provisional months I was given the task of being a key member and contributor of a new campaign to be launched that winter. This was a huge honour!
The skills I learnt have definitely helped me in the job I am doing now.
The Company
Great working environment and I loved the job so I tried to have as much fun as I could!
The HR team is excellent and the placement was set up faultlessly.
I was offered courses and got to attend crucial meetings which was valuable and so informative.
Company Parties/Events
I did apply for their graduate scheme but as it turned out I got another job offer which was more convenient so reluctantly had to decline the graduate scheme.
The Culture
There were two other lads who I became good mates with and I got pally with a fair few of the lads already working there
Compared to up north where I grew up I found the south to be expensive and I got a lot less for my money which was surprising and depressing at the same time.
I am a party kind of guy and so I tried to get as much as I could with the lads but I wasn't too impressed with the nightlife. Up north is much better (and friendlier) for partying!
I played in football, basketball and tennis matches with a few of the lads.
