  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a great opportunity to try a job in chemical industry and learn new skills.

  • I felt valued by both direct collaborators and the management (even more distant/high)

  • My supervisor provided day to day feedback on my progress and work.

  • The amount of work was demanding but possible to complete within working hours.

  • I fully owned my project and it only depended on me what I developed and shared. My supervisor provided useful guidance on the way.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely clear objective-driven work will be useful in the future. As well as many opportunities to produce report and deliver presentations.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Some people were very quiet (as expected in a hard working environment) but generally friendly. Everyone was very kind and helpful.

  • It was very well organised on site.

  • My supervisor was a perfect coach for personal training and I could ask them to deal with any of my problems.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We had a lot of networking events for the interns and within the department.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • North of England is generally a cheap place so the standard of living could be much higher than in London.

  • Have you never heard about a Geordie night out?

  • Many Sports and Social Clubs available, as well as ad hoc organised activities.
