    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very enjoyable - I was allowed a lot of freedom with my work, as well as getting the experience to go offshore.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Some of my work was important for management but not really for many people in the actual office. In Windsor I had an extra opportunity to get involved in another project and add my ideas, which was very satisfying!

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My Line Manager met with me a few times during the placement to talk about my progress and how I was getting on. The team in Windsor also kept me updated on information through phonecalls, giving me information.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Busy at some periods, a bit quiter with others, balanced out quite well.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Some responsibility during projects - some of it was collating information which did not require a lot of resposibility.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • More in the personal development side - networking, communication. A good overview of Engineering in Power Generation.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Casual - less informal than some corporate offices. Took a while for me to get in my comfort zone but it was fun after that.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Overall Centrica Summer Placement is very organised. It would've been nice to have some more support between the Central Grad team and the Engineering Stream, however I do not know how much other teams got.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Helped me get offshore training!

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very good grad scheme!

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Organised events to get together, would've liked more though!

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Accommodation was free! Cheap.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good - plenty of bars

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Volunteering/Social Clubs

    3/5
