Centrica Energy is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade power, gas, LNG, and energy attributes and connect producers, suppliers and off takers in the wholesale energy markets - and we provide our clients with the best route-to-market services available to the market today with physical and financial settlement approaches. We’re a total of 850+ colleagues from over 50 different nations, located in 8 different offices around the world. At our London office, where this programme is allocated, you’ll be joining our international office with over 200 dedicated energy specialists.

Our inaugural 12 months Software Development Industry Programme aims to compliment your studies and accelerate your development - hopefully setting you up for your career in Technology!

The finance teams are pivotal to the success of Centrica and through the programme you can discover what life is like for our software professionals.

Here’s what you will be doing

Your placement will be within our Technology teams, working at the heart of the function you will discover what it means to be a Software Engineer – creating solutions to real business issues and exploring new opportunities to unlock the value in our data.

Opportunities may include

• Core application development to build functionality into our customer and billing systems
• Cloud platform/network engineering to build flexible and scalable solution environments
• Data engineering to transform data at scale to support operations and analytics purposes
• Data science including the use of machine learning to provide intelligence capabilities
• Information/cyber security technology to ensure our environments are safe and secure
• We want you to experience as much as possible and be able to soak up and learn about the wonderful world of tech and life at Centrica. Throughout the programme, you will be provided with an unparalleled level of support with access to buddies, mentors, and experienced line managers, as well as having a ready-made network of graduates across the business to tap into.

We have a few must-haves

We’re looking for passionate individuals who are analytical, curious, and willing to learn. In addition, we would like you to demonstrate:

• Passionate about a career in Technology
• Predicted minimum 2:1 degree in a STEM subject
• Willing to work and be based in our central London office
• Studying Technology centric or related degree with the ability to undertake a 12-month placement from June 2024 to June 2024
• Eager to learn new technologies and tools 
• A technical mindset, with experience in working in software development
• Great initiative and problem-solving skills
