The Role
To put it simply, I couldn't have hoped for a better placement year! I'm so sad that it's come to an end.
The whole department are so friendly and made me feel very welcomed when I first started. I received a tremendous amount of support throughout the year. My work was definately recognised, I felt appreciated and valued, I truly felt like a real employee making a real difference at the company.
Me and my manager had regular catch ups and monthly 1-2-1's where we discussed how I was getting on and what additional projects I'd like to get involved in. The guidance that I received from my manager helped me a lot - especially with what career path I would like to take after graduation.
I was busy on a day to day basis but I enjoyed managing and juggling the various different tasks that I needed to complete.
On top of my day to day role, I had the opportunity to participate in various projects. The majority of the projects were extremely "Reward" based as I have an increased interest in this area, I had the opportunity to deal with share schemes, pension schemes and global benchmarking. I also had the opportunity to present to the HR Director a research proposal!
Not only has my year at ASOS helped me in preparing for my final year of study at university. It's also given me the necessary and desired skills and attributes for my ideal graduate employment after I complete my degree.
The Company
The buzz of "working at ASOS" never stops, it's an atmosphere like no other. All about work hard and play hard!
The year was very well organised. There was not a HR Intern before me so my "training" was done by the HR Administrator who handed over her work to me.
We had a well structured timetable of various different development sessions that took place throughout the year. These sessions not only included skills sessions such as a class on Microsoft Excel, but also sessions which were run by members of different departments such as the International team - where they would run through what they are in charge of.

As ASOS do not currently run a graduate scheme, we are not guaranteed a job with them after we finish university. However, the prospects are extremely appealing and I would be very lucky to go back after my final year if the right job became vacant!
The Culture
I socialise with the people in my department a lot, we go to the pub after work quite often and fun stuff are frequently arranged such as a trip to Winter Wonderland and Zoo lates.
As the placement is in central london, it is of course expensive to live and socialise in. But it's all worth it!
As the office is near Camden, there's plenty of great bars and pubs around!
As mentioned earlier, our department do organise evenings out which is great!
