    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall, very satisfied with my placement in GE Money Home Lending.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt really valued by both my team and other colleagues. My inputs/point of view was considered in discussion etc.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given enough support during my whole year. What is more, I knew exactly what I can ask for additional support/guidance in case I need it.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most (95%) days I was busy. I always had tasks to do (and knew reasons why those tasks had to be done).

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I strongly believe that I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement. I was given tasks and explained why they had to be done and who will see/use it. It was motivating knowing that my work will be seen by senior people in the business.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have developed a lot of useful skills that will prove to be valuable in my degree and everywhere else. From training courses perspective, I think that all 3 courses added value. In particular, I liked the presentation skills course and think will benefit from that the most.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Overall, good atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be friendly and willing to help.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The structure of the internship is good. Most interns received some kind of handover from previous interns which was helpful. Apart from work (which developed a lot of skills itself), online learning and training courses where really useful.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think that as an intern I received a substantial amount of training (thus resources spent on me). Apart from usual 3 courses I attended excel training as well. I am pretty sure that I would get even more training if I/my role needed it.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • GE made a good impression on me. I think that this is a good business to be part of.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, fellow placement students were friendly and supportive. It was good to have such a big number of interns in the business.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I think that Watford is a costly place to live in for placement students. Probably it is the location (close to London) so it is natural that prices are higher.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I think that there are enough of activities to get involved outside of work in Watford. London is 20 minutes travel by train as well.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, there were a few sports clubs ranging from running to martial arts etc...

    5/5
