The Role
As all beginnings you have to adopt to the new work place, understand your work, once you get a grip, it is an amazing work experience. I really value the skills I could develop, people were very supportive and friendly.
Everyone is ready to help and respond if you have a question
You have a coach which is really helpful for the development of your understanding for your improvement areas, and understanding of the company and your work. Also your manager, and other people that you would need to contact for your projects support your work with guidance and tips.
I think it progressed with the Internship, but you need to keep a track of what you need to do at all times, plan your tasks ahead. Very good experience for improving on time management, and work in a structured way.
Interns were given three projects that they had to manage, you're given full responsibility and it is your task to deliver. You receive training at the beginning which explains Project Management, what is expected and gives tips for your Internship. Once you start the work it is up to you. You are introduced to the people who will be able to help and provide information when needed.
For the studies you improve your time management skills, team work, leadership and presentation. Beyond - you realize your improvement areas for the future, understand how a multinational corporation functions.
The Company
Everyone was very friendly, you are introduced to new people throughout your Internship who you can have a chat with. You can take part in "Blind Lunch" to meet people from other functions who you haven't met before. Lots of networking opportunities. Most people in the office knew that I was an Intern and took time to introduce themselves and offer help if needed. Overall, the atmosphere was very positive, and enjoyable work environment.
Everything is organised with a purpose, and you can see value in everything. The projects I was given were interesting and challenging, allowed me to learn about the team I was working with and their work, as well as IDS. You are given feedback half way through your Internship which was great since then you know your improvement areas, and can reassess expectations and change accordingly.
Intern College is organised at the beginning of the Internship which is a few days of training in London, then you are introduced to IDS, and finally your team. There are also online learning courses. People who support you with your work or projects take time to have meetings with you. This was a great opportunity since they are experienced and very good at what they do, amazing learning opportunity.

The Culture
If you are not from Newcastle, you live in halls together with other Interns so there's always someone to chat with and spend evenings together. Even if you don't live in halls, people were also welcome to come by.
Very acceptable costs. Socialising - amazing.
