  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Best work experience I have ever had.

  • Colleagues always treated me with respect and showed an interest in my life.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There were several things which led to support and guidance. We had a counsellor and a buddy, as well as the whole team in general which provided great support.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Occasional moments where I was free but on the whole it was very hard work!

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Far more than I anticipated! I was brought into important client meetings with partners, given specific client work, and overall I felt a valuable member of the firm.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Going into tax, it has helped me a lot with my business taxation module in my final year.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A relatively quiet office, but it needed to be so to maintain a professional atmosphere. However, there was a real energy about the place!

  • Everything appeared planned out and the internship ran very smoothly.

  • I was taught a lot about not only the firm, but tax specific knowledge.

  • I got a job with them! I am looking forward to starting next September.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the other interns were very friendly and we went out for a lot of social events with one another, some officially organised in the scheme and some set up ourselves.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Obviously London is expensive. However I stayed at home and took the train in which was easier. Cost of food was still significant though.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Access to any part of central london very easily.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were societies which we were encouraged to participate in. We were only there for 6 weeks though, and client work was obviously the priority!
