    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I did definitely enjoy my insight at Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP. There were a range of activities to get involved with. Shadowing lawyers in the Real Estate practice was particularly profitable. It will be useful for my future career.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Everyone is very supportive and you don't feel stupid asking any questions - they all know you're here to learn and appreciate the fact you can help them with menial tasks.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • My supervisor was so supportive. She provided me with interview preparation tips and how to approach other applications outside the firm. Also good information received about the future of BLP.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Invaluable experience, even in terms of having it on my CV and fully knowing that I want to continue a career in commercial law in the City.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was well structured with a range of activities from sitting with my supervisor to getting involved in pro bono activities.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Great - my team were so friendly and really wanted to get to know me. It was definitely helpful knowing that my supervisor was a big football fan like me. There was a fear of redundancies though.

    3/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Looks like Berwin Leighton Paisner has gone to some effort arranging events which have allowed us to fully interact with the firm. People at all levels have given up their time to talk to us about their departments - really refreshing to have contact with Partners; you don't get that many places.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company. Berwin Leighton Paisner is a great firm with a good culture.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The people who work there are a fantastic bunch of people and really work hard to make you feel welcome, comfortable and involved on the scheme. They all seem very close and willing to help each other out.

    3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Good - they really seem to want to help you get to where you want to be in your career. They have openly said that if we're good enough we'll get a job and we aren't competing with each other. Lots of opportunities to do Pro Bono, get involved in graduate recruitment, or work on the types of deals you're interested in and specialise.

    3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Pay was adequate to cover accommodation.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Met a lot of trainees, didn't have so much access to more important employees such as partners. These were spread out throughout the vacation scheme at the firm.

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • All the social event opportunities inevitably involved alcohol. There could have been a greater avriety of opportunities in my opinion.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Vac schemers have got involved with work drinks and socials, sports matches such as cricket and football and attended client networking events.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, I would recommend the vacation scheme. Great opportunity for networking, meet new people and develop skills.

    4/5
