The Role
I loved my time at ASOS. I learnt so many new skills, grew in confidence and made friends for life. My team were amazing, always supportive and helpful despite being very busy. It was such a fun company to work for with Christmas and summer parties, socials and great perks like summer Fridays and staff discount! I could not have had a better placement, it was such a great experience and went far too quickly!
When you begin your ASOS placement you are an integral part of your team from day one, being adaptable, flexible and hard-working makes you a valued member of your team and from my experience my team was a family.
Everyone on my team was always very busy, but always had time for any questions I had. Regular catch up with my supervisor helped me focus on my goals and areas of improvement. You are also given opportunities to use your initiative and creativity to solve problems.
I was part of a stretched team just keeping up with the phenomenal growth of the company; this meant I was always very busy- never bored for a second! Unfortunately this left little time to consolidate my learning, practice the skills I was learning or complete projects I was given. However it gave me the opportunity to develop good organisation skills, I had to prioritise, multitask and be adaptable to help different members of my team when particularly stretched.
As an intern you have the same role and responsibilities as an assistant (with a little more guidance at first). You have real responsibility and you have to understand that how successfully and efficiently you fulfil your responsibilities has consequences. When my supervisor was on work trips I had to coordinate the work on our department with the support of the rest of the team.on...
My time at ASOS helped to contextualise my university studies; I could put my academic learning into practice in a commercial environment which was invaluable. The transferable skills I developed will help me organise my time and work load in final year.
The Company
ASOS is all about work hard, play hard. Especially at Christmas, you have to work really hard in the months leading up to the big day but are rewarded with an amazing Christmas party, a department decoration competition and Christmas fair- with a fierce gingerbread house competition!
The intern programme at ASOS provided master class sessions where staff from other departments came to chat with the interns about the work they do and the role of their department. These sessions were really interesting and could only be improved by doing more of them! There was always support from the talent team if you needed it, whether that was help with your university project or support with your role at ASOS.
I went on lots of great training courses and trips during my time at ASOS. I learnt transferable skills through different IT training and an MBTI course. My department also invested in role specific training for the whole team through different training courses and training days. I was also fortunate to go on a number of trips and visits which further added to my learning and development.

ASOS invest in their intern’s personal and professional development and employment of past interns is very high, however they cannot guarantee you a job after graduation as it depends on the needs of the company at the time. Any future opportunities at ASOS would be very appealing based on my experience as an intern.
The Culture
ASOS provided a great social scene, with lots of social events parties and two local pubs very popular on summer Fridays! They also provide a free bar on the last Friday of the month.
Living in London is expensive, but I never felt like I was struggling on the intern salary. Socialising in the Camden area was affordable.
The night life was amazing; the ASOS head office has a great central location so you’re never far away from all the fun London has to offer.
ASOS encourage you to get involved with the many charity projects they work on and encourage you to spend a day volunteering. You can also join social committees help out in the infamous sample sales!
