    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • My role was incredibly interesting, with the possibility of working with a variety of people at all levels of the business. I had a wide variety of tasks and managed to get my hands onto all parts of the reserving process

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt incredibly valued by all members of the company.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There was always plenty of support and help with technical issues as well as with general time management and some advice on managing work life balance.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was incredibly busy almost all days, though this suited me very well, it may have been too much for some people.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during the placement and was relied on to help design and build all new models that were run by our team.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel that the skills I learnt, time management and stake holder management most importantly, will be very helpful for me in the future. However, as I'm doing a maths degree, I doubt anything I learnt will directly help my degree.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The company had a great atmosphere, and it felt like you could approach anyone

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the placement was very well structured, we were regularly told what was expected and how well we were doing, in line with any normal employee.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a number of training and development opportunities arranged for us, as well you could request to go on additional trainings if you felt they'd improve your performance. On top of that there were plenty of online training sessions you could take.

    5/5

  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I'm definitely applying to the graduate schemes run by the company, and would advise anyone else to consider it.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It was rare that you couldn't find someone to have a drink or spend some time with after work amongst the other placement students. On top of that there was a good social scene amongst the full time employees as well.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Being just outside of London does mean rent and socializing bills could soon pile up.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • It wasn't too bad, though with London only half an hour away it wasn't hard to go out somewhere.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were quite a few after work activities, though I rarely found myself leaving work early enough to get involved with many of them.

    4/5
