    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really loved my placement at ProspectSoft! I worked with some amazing people, and there was always a great atmosphere in the office. The year has been a lot of fun, and I genuinely feel like I got a lot from my placement.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • It has been said a lot before, but ProspectSoft genuinely is like a big family. Everyone gets on well and there is no shortage of outside-of-work activities to get involved in. The team work extremely well together, and everyone's opinions are valued.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • One of the great things about ProspectSoft is that so many of the people you will work with during your year, will have at one time been a placement themselves. Anytime I needed guidance, there was always someone there who was willing to answer my questions and take me through it. ProspectSoft really do invest a lot in their placement students and I always felt I had someone to go to if I needed help.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There is definitely peaks and troughs when it comes to workload. There will be times when there is a lot of stuff to do in a set time, meaning it can at times get a bit stressful, but it was always a great feeling to complete the work on time. There is also times when it's a bit quieter, meaning you can get on with less urgent tasks and make them your own. Overall, there was pretty much a perfect balance between busy periods and quieter ones.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I definitely feel one of the best things about my placement was being given the responsibility to do what was required of you and make it your own. As it isn't a huge company, placement students really are relied upon to fulfill a proper job role! My involvement in sales and managing my own pipeline for one of our most recent products has definitely been the most enjoyable part of my year. I really felt like it was my responsibility to provide results and represent ProspectSoft to our customers and potential clients. ProspectSoft definitely put a lot of trust in me to represent the company and pull through some real results!

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I can't express enough how much ProspectSoft has taught me. Both personally and professionally, in terms of getting the most out of my final year at University and helping me confidently enter the graduate market. This year has helped me discover skills I was previously unaware I had and now sharpened my idea of what sort of career I want to pursue. I came into this process with little confidence and a pretty standard CV, I honestly feel like a different person. I have now turned what I would have considered weaknesses of mine, into some of my best strengths and ProspectSoft has really helped me build a strong CV.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was always great atmosphere in the office. Everyone gets on really well, and there was never any shortage of banter or a lengthy debate. There is now also a pool table in the office, which is a great way to get away from work for 5 minutes and relax.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The months training at the start of my placement was a great way to learn about what ProspectSoft were really all about and after that the role you take on was the same as any other. Overall, the training was well organised and helped a lot with getting to grips with what my role would entail and the placement ran smoothly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • ProspectSoft definitely listened to me when I thought I needed additional training, and took it on board when I wanted to get more involved in a particular area of my role. ProspectSoft are great at listening to you and helping you to make the most out of your year.

  • National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If you perform well on your placement, ProspectSoft would definitely consider taking you on full time when you finish your degree. 70% of placement students get offered a job at the end of their placement, which is an outstanding statistic in such an uncertain job market!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • It definitely depends on the students you share the placement with. But ProspectSoft has a really friendly culture, and there are always great events you can go along to during your year. The annual company BBQ is in a few weeks and there have been some great highlights this year, including Go-Karting, London Zoo Lates, cinema trips and Clay Pigeon shooting!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Pretty average in terms of cost of living, I'm used to Newcastle prices as I go to Uni there - so I found nights out/taxi's etc pretty steep!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Oxford is pretty average for nightlife - they have some great cocktail bars and a few good clubs! Cowley Road (where we lived) is great for pubs and bars!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Definitely, there are always cinema trips, night outs etc you can get involved with!
