    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thought that the placement year was a good introduction to work. Naturally at times I missed university but I was happy I got the chance to earn some money and also secure a potential job for when I graduate.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • In audit you tend to work in teams of as little as 2 to as large as 20 odd so there are enough colleagues to make you feel welcome. When I started I was first introduced to my buddy whom took me out for a meal and drinks. It was an ideal way to start the placement!

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was aware I had a counsellor but I found that they didn't make much contact with me, which was a shame as I could have done with the extra support!

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Busy season (January to March) was extremely busy but in all honesty I had quite a bit of downtime during the year.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a suitable level of responsibility which corresponded with my role.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I definitely picked up a thing or two on Microsoft Excel!

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • From the times when I was in the office, the atmosphere was really good. Most recently the firm did some fundraising for comic relief which was a great laugh!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement on the whole was very well set up. Sometimes there was the odd resourcing problem where I did not have work. Fortunately this was rare.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company paid for me to take my first set of exams and as well as this the firm sent me off to training courses.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I received a full time offer with them post university.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was okay. It could have been much better but the trouble with audit is that everyone seems to be scattered all over the country!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very very expensive! London is not cheap at all1

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • When I had the time to go out it was good. A little overcrowded but still a good atmosphere!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I got to take part in one football match during my time there!

    4/5
