    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement gave a good insight into what it would be like to work for the company.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • All staff were really nice and welcoming. I felt able to approach any of my colleagues for help and guidance and instantly was made to feel part of the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • During the 10 week period, you are looked after by a placement manager who has regular catch ups, and a line manager who provides you with work and daily support. I felt each manager was easily approached, genuinely cared and made time to talk to me wherever possible, as well as getting to know me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Due to the nature of the work I carried out (one big project as opposed to multiple smaller projects) there were often periods when there was little work to do due to waiting on responses from various areas of the business. I know this wasn't the case across all schemes and if you need more work, the colleagues are easy to approach to ask for it.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The project I was given was a large project which has a large impact on the company. I was offerred support but at the same time, allowed to take control of the project and have ownership over decisions.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My degree is not of the same discipline as the programme itself, however understanding more about how a business operates will help in my studies. The internship as also helped to confirm what career path I would like to take.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a fun and social atmosphere, however it wasn't distracting in any way and you could still get all your work done.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised from start to finish. The assessment centre ran smoothly and the company kept in touch between the job offer and the internship start date. There was a full welcome day and many training sessions run for all the interns.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company provided lunchtime training sessions, which taught us important skills as well as allowing us to socialise and have lunch with people from accross the business. We were all also given access to online training resources.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Healthcare from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • If your placement is successfull then there is a high chance of being offerred a place on the graduate scheme for when you finish university.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Many of the interns met for lunch daily, as well as some social events in the evenings and at weekends.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I live in Edinburgh anyway so it was no different for me and from what I believe there is little difference in cost between Edinburgh and other cities. For those who don't live in Edinburgh, the company find and pay for your accomodation.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a lot of different pubs and clubs. As the internship falls over the Edinburgh festival there are loads of shows and comedians to go to (some for free!) and clubs are open much later.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I personally didn't get involved in any but I do know there are loads of options avaialable.

    4/5
