  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • When the placement first started, I was primarily completing the tasks as set out in my monthly timetable. However, as the year progressed and I demonstrated my ability in using the systems effectively, I was allocated additional responsibility to ensure that I was kept busy.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • VWG-UK encompasses a dedicated Learning and Development function which gives students the opportunity to enhance their personal and professional development. So for example, I was able to attend an advanced MS Excel training course which has without a doubt, made me more proficient in using the software to analyse large amounts of complex data.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great atmosphere. Everyone got on very well, even during the busy periods.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Constant communication from the HR department and management teams. In addition, all students were invited to a familiarisation day prior to starting their placement and this was definitely advantageous as it gave everyone a chance to see who they’d be working with and where.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was able to attend numerous training courses and I also received a large amount of on-the-job training.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I will definitely be looking to apply to VWG-UK. They have just started their graduate scheme again and this looks very appealing indeed.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was actually staying at home during the course of my placement but after speaking to some of the other students living in Milton Keynes, I was told that the cost of living and socialising was fairly reasonable.
