    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • EY is a really great company to work for. The internship programme is structured really well and everyone does their best to make sure you get the most out of your internship.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Before this I have heard so much about how the working culture of EY is what separates them from the rest of the big 4, and now I can understand why! Everyone is very welcoming and sincere, constantly telling me that it's alright if I don't understand, as well as giving acknowledgement after I've completed a task.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Along with the friendliness, my colleagues were also extremely helpful, including the more senior ones. They would take their time and sit with me to go through every aspect of their work in extensive detail, which made everything much easier.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My department is highly dependent on the number of projects coming in at a point in time, and with the Olympics and summer holidays, things at this period of the year are usually slower than normal, but they still always ensured I have things to do, like case studies.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • They were very good in gauging my progress and gradually increasing the level of responsibility given to me.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel I was able to get exposure to a wide range of aspects required by the job, not just restricted to technical skills, which will undoubtedly come in handy in the future.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It really felt like a family, everyone makes tea/coffee for everyone. It felt so bizarre when the partner came up to me asking if I want a cup of tea.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There is a counselling meeting in the beginning, middle and end of the internships to identify objectives and ensure they are met.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • EY takes extremely great care of all their employees.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Apart from the induction event and end of internship event, which are amazing, the rest of the socials were organised by the interns ourselves.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Birmingham's cost of living can be as cheap as you want it to be.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a few decent places at Broad St / Brindleyplace.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was an EY-KPMG hockey tournament, which was interesting. Loads of charity work opportunities too.

    4/5
