The Role
Overall I really enjoyed the placement at SJ Berwin. The two weeks were well constructed to give a mix of informative talks, actual work and opportunities to mix with employees in sociable and fun scenarios.
I have never worked in an office where I have felt so valued by those I am doing work for (lifting the load on any trainee is always much appreciated!) or supported by the excellent support staff.
My supervisors took the time to review my performance at the end of each week and took me for coffee to discuss the end of scheme interview process.
There was time to ask questions but I never felt bored or had little to do. The tasks given to me were well varied and I feel I got a good sense of day to day life in the firm and what it is like to be a lawyer.
The amount of responsibility I had was limited due to my placement in litigation, despite this I still found I was given fairly meaty research tasks by my supervisors.
I feel I learnt more in the couple of weeks I did at SJ Berwin than I did in my whole second year of university!
The Company
The office had a professional vibe as would be expected in this sector, however there was still time to stop for a chat or enjoy a quick game of table tennis to refresh your mind.
Great organisation, things ran smoothly.
My supervisors always took the time to explain a task to me and the introductory talks proved to be good training in the ICT aspects of the job

Company Parties/Events
Still pending, however the interview preparation is good and gives you a decent idea of what to expect in the interview for the training contract.
The Culture
A good atmosphere between vacation scheme students. It felt very much like we had each others backs.
Expensive due to the fact the firm is based in central london but free lunches definitely helped!
Didn't get to experience it much.
We were often approached to go for drinks with trainees or to take place in sporting events when there was space in the teams.
