    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

    • On a day-to-day basis, I plan sampling activations for our new launches, including locations, quantities, and leaflet design. I place orders, action send outs and conduct market research. I am also responsible for pulling weekly and monthly data and communicating my findings to the wider team.

    • Over the summer I have continued to develop skills such as prioritisation, proactivity and working quickly and accurately. I have also leant lots of new excel tips/tricks as well as developed my general workplace communication, for example email tone and having the confidence to speak up in meetings.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

    • I was given lots of responsibility which was great! I was worried that I would spend my summer doing research based tasks which would never be put into action, but that certainly wasn't the case. I was given real responsibilities from day 1, including organising multiple sampling activations from start to finish, designing new leaflets and presenting monthly results.

    • Had weekly 1-2-1 with my manager. The whole team was very friendly and helpful, I felt like I could reach out to anyone when necessary.

    • Really friendly, approachable and chatty. There are interns/apprentices/grads so lots of young people in the office.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

    • I thoroughly enjoyed this internship! It was a fantastic way to spend my summer, gain proper insight into life at L'Oreal as well as an in depth understanding of my role and many others. I think 10 weeks is a good amount of time as you develop real rapport with your team and feel like your ideas and opinions are appreciated and actioned.

    • Do lots of research into L'Oreal as a business, not only did I find this really interesting but it will help you stand out, particularly during the final interview presentation.
