    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The first two weeks were a comprehensive training course. Then I was put onto a project where my day consisted of a stand-up meeting with the team in the morning and then working on client tickets through the rest of the day. Every other day there was also a stand up with the client.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I've learnt an incredible amount. Not only has my fluency in different programming languages increased, I've learnt how to work in a large code base. I've also developed my skills of creating a relationship with a client.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given quite a lot for a summer internship. I was treated like a member of the team and so, whilst all my code was reviewed, that was just normal practice.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There was a lot of support. My line manager checked in once a week and everyone was incredibly friendly so I felt I could ask anyone for help. My team was happy to help and always around to ask questions to.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Ghyston is a very friendly and close-knit company. It was great that they put on many events where we could get to know the other interns and the rest of the company. It had a very relaxed atmosphere and everyone was happy to be at work.
