  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Attending training sessions on various actuarial topics. Working on various internal projects on a wide range of fields. Participated in weeklong virtual reality task involving a group presentation.

    Responsibilities

  • Yes, there were various projects which you had to work on independently. Some work you had to organise yourself with the other interns.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • A lot of guidance and support was provided. Every intern has a 'buddy' who will be an almost mentor figure who you can ask any questions to. Every intern also had a 'counsellor' who was more senior which had a similar role to a 'buddy' but also gave back feedback.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Company culture was very good. A lot of trust within the team - i.e. no pressure to stay late, no questions if leaving early or arriving late. Very friendly open atmosphere which had very good emphasis on work life balance.

  • Be open, friendly and collaborative. The culture wants employees to ask questions and work together. Don't try to show off or do everything yourself.
