    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I got embedded within the L'Oréal Dermatological Beauty division. I was Education & Advocacy Intern, therefore my functional area was the Training & Education Team. My key responsibilities were: E-learning Websites Support to educate business customers, retailers and business partners. Another responsibility was Training Coordination Management and finally - Advocacy which focused on creating the brands' loyalty and managing the collaboration and communication with Education Managers and stakeholders.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learned how to become more proactive and work efficiently with multiple stakeholders, projects and deadlines. This skill not only improved the quality of my work results but also developed my communication skills as well as the creative skills as I became more confident with myself and my developed skills.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I strongly believe I was a significant member of the Education Team in LDB division. I have tried my best to support my manager Gemma with the hard background work that goes into advocacy and trainings. As the role became more familiar, I feel as if I've taken full ownership of my role and my projects with my own long list of responsibilities.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Although I didn't get a handover from the previous Intern, my manager Gemma has always been there for me. She's supported me with all the brand and role trainings by always checking up on me and teaching me how to manage my daily responsibilities. The Education Team has also been there every step of the way, always getting involved at the right moments, even when on the field!

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I was amazed by how much the company values all of us interns and our involvement. This company culture is something I truly value - a culture where people recognize your efforts and contributions. Strong mentorship from my team and the positive attitudes I've seen in the office made more confident in my skills which gives you space for personal growth throughout your work experience. I wish, however, there was more diversity and inclusion.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement as my role was so broad and I had an opportunity to upskill myself in so many areas, from statistical analysis to digital marketing. I wish I collaborated more with different teams such as marketing and PR and be involved in external trainings. I have also developed a creative skill I never knew I had. This brought me a new perspective when it comes to planning my future career path.

  • 7. Would you recommend L'Oreal to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
  • Be yourself as much as possible and don't follow the typical, researched interview answers. Everyone at L'oreal values authenticity, the uniqueness of one's thoughts, visions and opinions. My other advise would be to always let your empathy guide you. Don't let the stereotype of a huge corporation scare you, this is not L'oreal and your colleagues will treat you with respect and always give you space for personal growth.
