    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As an E-Commerce Intern, my role involved submitting weekly sales data from our online retailers to a universal system to allow for for accurate and precise sales reporting. Throughout the during on my internship tracked and analysed sales figures, assisted in promotions as well as the launch of new products. Being based in the E-Commerce area, I had the opportunity to work with and support all of the brands across the division.

  • Throughout the course of my placement I acquired a range of skills and developed both at a personal and working level. From increasing my knowledge and expertise in excel to learning how to manage my workload and expectations, the placement provided a supportive and impassioned environment to work and learn within. My confidence in analysing data, leading projects and presenting to others are just select few of personal areas in which I've developed.

  • Definitely! - Looking back over the course of the year, the responsibility of the workload definitely increased. You are given a range of opportunities to take on responsibility, but are also presented with the support along the way.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • This is an area of my placement i was most impressed with. The general feeling within my role in particular was that your colleagues around you were there to help you. Most people themselves remember their first working experiences so are more than happy to lend a hand where necessary. From a company wide point of view - the support and resources provided to employees to further develop their working and personal lives is admirable.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The general feeling is one of a youthful fast-paced environment. Its very much a supportive and diverse culture where people have their own career developments in mind but also have time to look out for others where needed.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • There was no doubt challenging times throughout the year, but my overriding feeling is one of pride in my personal development and gratitude in the support given to me - particular by my line manager. I hugely enjoyed my experience and will look back on the year with joy!

  • Don't put too much pressure on yourself to impress everyone! Working hard is of course important but managing your own workload and progress comes first. Remember the basics - being polite and friendly to those around you really does work wonders!
