    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As a whole my role is aiding in getting a product successfully to launch. On a daily basis this involved market research and data analysis, organising and leading on the subcontracting of testers, forecasting launches, briefing the wider team on new launches and strategy, leading legal ands scientific approval for all content, organising and editing assets and copy, activating with retailers and post-campaign analysis.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have worked on my data analysis strengths by leaning into the market research side of my role, I have become a key lead on brand performance against competitors and update the team monthly on our ranks and evolution. I have also significantly improved my presenting skills, this was a weakness of mine when starting but I have grown in confidence hugely over the past year.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility during my placement. I forecasted 2024 launches and presented to our General Manager for approval. I took on projects which were a high priority for the brand, such as creating a clear strategy in decreasing our excess & obsolete stock in order to reach our FY target. My manager gave me such trust, even with larger projects and I was always pushed out of my comfort zone.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I cannot fault the support and guidance throughout my internship. Everyone had time for me, no matter the size of the task. My manager always made it clear how much she supported me and the knowledge I've accumulated from her and the wider team has been invaluable to my role/career progression.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
  • Always be enthusiastic and approach tasks with a positive but realistic mindset. Learn to be super agile, there are often a lot of team changes and with that comes lots of times where you'll need to step in and help. Lastly, reach out to people beyond just your team - everyone has a wealth of knowledge to learn from, even if outside your role - learning what others do increases your understanding and empathy.
