    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role as a marketing intern was very varied day-to-day. My main responsibilities would be leading on creating and localising assets for certain launches and campaigns throughout the year. Daily tasks included communications with our design and printing agency and working closely with scientific on claims approvals. Projects included supporting on full 360 launches, even having the opportunity to manage and lead on one campaign during my placement year.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have definitely developed my existing skills during my time at L'Oreal. The main one would be time management as you are expected to be able to able to work on multiple projects at the same time, so I have learnt to manage and prioritise my time a lot better. One skill I have learnt more is presenting. I had multiple opportunities to present internally and externally and even though it appeared daunting at first it was great to be given the opportunity to practice this skill more.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement year. It definitely increased as more time went on and I felt more comfortable in the role. Some responsibilities included being the lead on activations and planning with one of our e-retail accounts. This meant having weekly calls with the relevant NAM. I supported the team on all launches and campaigns and also had the opportunity to lead and manage my own campaign which was an exciting project to take on.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support and guidance during my placement. I always felt I could speak up to my team and line manager and ask for help if I needed it, plus they would always ask if I needed support on anything. I felt the support from the wider team as well and my line manger gave me all the guidance I needed.
