    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • - Provide support in marketing campaign planning and execution. - Day-to-day management of the Honda Marine Europe Facebook page. - Assist the Digital Marketing Manager with managing content on all European websites. - Competitor audits – undertake research and present findings. - Assist in the creation of articles for the blog. Liaise with the agency and branches on localisation. - Produce and deliver a comprehensive quarterly website performance report for management review. - Fully understand the brand, business and markets, and keep abreast of market changes and influences. - Continually build brand, sector knowledge and expertise, through self-learning and more formal product training where required Agency Relations - Maintain strong relationships with the agencies through effective communication. - Support with delivering clear and specified briefs. Finance - Understand the budget for the financial year and support the Section Manager on day-to-day requirements, including raising Purchase Order forms (POs) for approved estimates.

  • Yes, I've learnt how to manage websites on CMS: AEM, agency relations and liaising with agency producers, market research, writing press releases, stakeholder management, social media management, product knowledge, budget management, campaign management, time management, creative reviews, strategic management, and data analysis.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was surprised at the amount of responsibility given in this role; I would say its definitely the same amount as a marketing executive. Working in a small team means you have a lot more responsibility on your shoulders but it has definitely been manageable. I'd recommend this role for anyone interested in getting a broad marketing experience.

  • There was no formal training, I did a lot of learning on the job which meant it did take some time to build up responsibility as there was a lot to learn.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The HME (Honda Motor Europe) office is a very corporate environment. Work is expected to be done by the deadlines provided. The general atmosphere is very work-focused, however, the associates are kind and supportive when needed.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • There have been great perks of working at Honda Power Products - I've received a boat license, been travelling to many different countries for meetings and photo shoots, and had lovely agency visits. These have been incredible experiences! The day-to-day is more corporate.
