    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Exporting market data sheets for different model segments using external software, and producing presentations to be presented by each individual product manager on a monthly basis. Completing sales data sheets for sales team to be presented in senior management meetings. Maintaining and producing a bi-monthly report presented division-wide analysing the current market situation and trends. Completing both ad-hoc and pre-planned data analysis tasks and projects supporting product managers using both PowerPoint, excel and third-party internal software.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed existing skills such as time management, and working effectively as part of a team. In addition I have honed my excel skills to a fluent level and understand how best to present my findings through softwares such as PowerPoint.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a level of responsibility during my internship, having to complete monthly tasks and projects for product managers with strict deadlines, which would be presented to senior figures in the automotive division. In addition I was given control of a bi-monthly report which was distributed division wide.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I really struggled with support and guidance throughout the placement. I often found that my line manager and other product managers were often to busy to be concerned about my professional development, and I was given very limited training at the start of my placement so often found I had to learn on my own accord.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I was disappointed in the general atmosphere and culture of where I was working. As an intern that was in the office 4 - 5 days a week, I would often find that colleagues were working from home. This often made it difficult to converse or seek support when this was required.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my internship to an extent and have found that I am interested, however was disappointed with the lack of initial training and support throughout my time here.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Honda Motor Europe
  • Be prepared to problem solve and use your initiative when working on tasks. Do not be afraid to ask lot's of questions and ask for support if needed. Ensure you have good time management skills and are punctual. Ensure you make an effort to network with colleagues in other teams and other interns.
