  • Coordinating investment deals with clients, data handling, ESG reporting, chairing client meetings

  • Yes, I strengthened my communication skills, expanded my knowledge of the asset management industry and gained confidence over the course of the internship. We had the opportunity to present to senior colleagues and had great exposure to leaders within the firm.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, we were given lots of responsibility. I could clearly see how the work I was carrying out was contributing to the wider team. I felt like my role had real purpose, and for me it was really important to feel a part of the team.

  • Lots of support and guidance. abrdn provides a buddy scheme, you have scheduled 1-1 meetings with your line manager. The graduate cohort is also encouraged to come together weekly through a range of development activities to provide peer support.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Company culture was great. The exposure of early careers in abrdn is great. Senior colleagues want to help out and watch new colleagues grow and develop in the industry. abrdn is a friendly organisation who pride themselves on developing their people.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship over the 10 weeks - so much so that I accepted a role onto the graduate scheme starting in September 2022. Now, two months in, I am continuing to learn and develop in my role. I am so grateful to have had this incredible internship opportunity.
