    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I lead some of the Daily Stand ups. I had meetings with existing Technical Program managers and other stakeholders to learn more about the business and team. I created a "Confluence" page or an online page documenting what a TPM should know if they were placed in the core technology department. I also created a page documenting my progress on how I approached my project. I set up meetings with other managers and led those meetings to give them updates on my project since they would be affected by the solution I come up with.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Definitely developed my networking skills. Problem solving skills were tested as well, especially since I had to carry out some user research to help me figure out the best solution to my project. And, of course, agile project management skills. How I can deal with the unknowns of a project and adjust to setbacks.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I had to reorganise a whole intake process and actually apply my solution to help improve it. I was honoured by their trust in me. A lot of things could have gone wrong.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Plenty, not just from my team but from other teams that work with my team. I remember the first day I went up to introduce myself to a couple of collegues in the office, one of the program managers from another data team introduced himself and offered to sit down with me for 30 minutes to explain the teams within the technology department and the interdependencies. I learned more by interacting with people than I would by myself.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Honestly, I love how diverse the company is. Everyone I have met has been so kind and most of the time I walk in the hallways and I come across someone I don't know they would always smile. The office is aesthetically pleasing, which motivated me to go in almost everyday.
