I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Expedia Group. The work was interesting and engaging, I had a great work-life balance throughout and learned so much each day. I spent the first 9 months of my internship in the office, which is a great place to work with features such as ping pong tables, themed meeting rooms and a roof top terrace. I spent the latter 6 months working from home where I was well supported and continued to collaborate successfully with my team
The placement with Expedia Group is honestly one of the highlights of my degree so far. I started the placement with minimal expectations, and even had the intention of completing postgraduate study in place of entering the industry. I have now changed my plans to join Expedia again after graduation. The placement didn't just challenge me technically and allow me to develop my skills, but I also thoroughly enjoyed my time with my team. Expedia were incredibly social and hosted plenty of events to network with others, which I found really improved the experience. I spent many evenings going on team outings and to intern/placement student events and participating in company hackathons.
I did a year industry placement with Expedia Group and here's what I got to say: The culture is extremely welcoming. People are very friendly and approachable. Everyone is always ready to help. Best company I have worked for. Made a lot of friends for life. Tasks are very interesting as you are always learning and reconsolidating what you have learned (both from uni and work). You get to learn about a lot of different cutting-edge technologies. Best Job ever!
I enjoyed the absolute majority of the work placement, and while half of it was spent working remotely due to the pandemic, I made the most of working in the office while I was there and loved it. I worked on a wide range of projects so I was always outside of my comfort zone learning something new and this helped me develop my technical skills greatly. It's fair to say I've learned more working at Expedia than I have in my entire university course so far.
Working for Expedia Group this summer has been an amazing experience! Everyone in the company is willing to help and answer any questions that you might have. The environment is very collaborative and although my internship was virtual, it was still very social and enjoyable. It was great working on a project which gave me the opportunity to take some responsibility, but still have the space to learn and take up on other work as well.
I really enjoyed my virtual internship. I was working on interesting and current problems. The work I was given was meaningful and challenging which allowed me to learn a lot and add something new to the business. Apart from the main project I was working on we had weekly "Leadership Series" where we had a chance to meet senior leaders at Expedia and "Intern Learning Series" which mostly focused on developing our soft skills. We also had weekly virtual socials with other interns.
The early talent team made a pronounced effort to ensure there were weekly social activities and professional development opportunities for us despite the online nature of the internship. My team was welcoming friendly and supportive when I needed it, as was the organisation as a whole. My work was challenging at times, but overall allowed me to develop new skills. I was also afforded the opportunity to explore areas I was particularly interested in within the confines of the project.
Really awesome company to work for! Thoroughly enjoyed my placement here which has a great culture and tech-focused environment. No two projects or analyses were the same, and I loved the variety my role offered. I also got a taste of how many professions operate, from project management to software development, through daily interactions and meetings - which I thought was a great opportunity to help me figure out what I am after in a grad role.
Working as an intern at Expedia is an amazing experience. There is a perfect balance of hard work as you learn from professionals of a successful and large organisation and having a fun time - because the people there are truly incredible. The HR team also did an amazing job at organising social events for interns!
The manager who has hired me left the company after my second week, which resulted in little supervision and partly chaotic workdays. On a practical side it was a challenge to find the suitable person in charge for topics like sick leave, contract extension or staying with Vrbo.
I couldn't have asked for a better placement year to kick start my career. I worked on a variety of interesting projects and was given responsibility from day one, which for me, was a huge motivator. I felt valued by my colleagues, I learnt a lot and made many friends in the process!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time working at Expedia Group, particularly Expedia Partner Solutions (EPS). I worked in the Data Products team as a Product Manager Intern. I was able to get involved in many initiatives and meet and learn from many people. Overall, the culture was incredible and working alongside some of the best in the travel technology industry was a great experience.
I really enjoyed the working environment at Expedia, I met some really great people and it was a pleasure to work with them. I feel like I was able to fill in the gaps in my skill set through the projects I was involved in. I must say I wasn't as busy as I thought I might be, nevertheless this gave me to time to network and ask more questions.
I really enjoyed my internship during this summer. The experience was amazing, the team I was part of treated me really well, I got involved in three projects so I had the chance to explore different sides of the business, the people I met during the summer were all really friendly, open and eager to help. The overall experience was the best I could have had!
