    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role involves writing clean code, rear hire ring live servers, communicating with other teams, develop components, clean documentation, upskill and continue innovation processes. My day to day work consists of spring planning, picking up tickets, working on projects, having meetings with the team to make sure that everyone is up to date with what is happening on the team and to keep up to date with what the company needs and plans for the next quarter.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yeah, I have developed my communication skills by communicating with my peers, team mates and managers. I have learnt how to use GitHub and how to debug Git issues. I have learnt how to use PDB to debug code. I have learnt how to manage people and what skills and competencies are required to work with people of different backgrounds and ages. I have learnt how to stick to standards and how to write clean code.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • When I first came, my team ensured that I learnt the necessary skills to do my job. They helped me upskill and improve myself. The work that I was given was very important because it was a prerequisite for a major upgrade that is planned for further planning. The work that I am doing has also been requested by other teams and can help other software engineers on those team to easier complete their work.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support from my manager, early careers and my team. They helped me improve my communication skills and helped me learn how to communicate with members of other teams. They helped me improve my manager skills and listened to me when I told them my career aspirations. My team was very helpful in guiding me on the right path to achieve my career goals and let me meet with other members of the company who know about what I want to do in the future.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was very chill and casual. They put a lot of effort into the early careers of students and organise many events for interns to meet each other and socialise with managers and other members of the team. I was very happy to learn how relaxed the team is and how easy it is to talk to other members of the company. The upper management is very eager to help new graduates.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed it very much. I would love to continue at the company should they extend a graduate role to me. The company is very good at retaining employees because of how much they care for employees which is very evident in the way they care for students and how easy they make it for interns to learn new skills outside their job scope. I loved the office space as well since the facilities are amazing.
