Data Analytics Intern Review

Querying, creating visualisations, and writing analysis reports to help answer business questions relating to advertising at King. Day to day I work on a long term project as well as shorter term weekly tasks and meet with several stakeholders each week to share my progress.

I have greatly developed my skills in SQL/BigQuery and R, as well as my data interpretation and investigation skills.

Yes, I have been given a lot of responsibility. My team has trusted me to write data analysis reports for various games and share these on the company-wide platform, my long term project has the potential to have an important impact in guiding advertising practices in a specific game, and I am always included in the weekly data science discussion and sharing meetings.

I have received excellent support and guidance from my team/mentor, who have taken a lot of time to explain the pipeline, tools, terminology, and tables widely used at King (although it could have been nice to have had some specific skills sessions open to all data interns/new starters). The early careers team also held some very helpful onboarding sessions at the start, and individually check in with us from time to time which is great.

The culture at King is fantastic, everyone is super friendly and people smile at each other in the office even if we haven't met before. There are lots of great social events that are either intern-specific or company-wide (e.g. an after work summer party, intern coffees/lunches, and puppies came into the office the other week too!)

I have had a wonderful time on my internship at King. It has been really interesting to analyse datasets with billions of rows to answer questions that have a real impact on the games, the working environment has been very friendly and supportive, and the work-life balance is very good too.
