    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On a day-to-day basis, my priority is always the order-to-delivery management. This involves processing any orders that come through for our customers as well as organising the delivery. Attention to detail and responsiveness is key. Maintaining positive customer relationships is also key on the day-to-day to ensure customers are receiving the best in class service and we are supporting the growth of the business by encouraging growth in business by collaborating with our commercial counterparts.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • This is a very technical role where efficiency is key and the team are always looking to improve the current ways of working to be more efficient. I have therefore developed critical thinking skills by reviewing current ways of working and reflecting on how we can improve this and then implementing that change. I have also learnt a lot of excel skills, many of which I noticed are key requirements for many jobs after graduation.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • From day one you are given key responsibilities where the work you do is vital to the business. I started off focusing on the order to delivery management and if this was not done then products would not reach customers to bring in sales showing the level of trust and responsibility given. I would also be in customer meeting contributing and responding to client questions as my work would be so detail focused that there would be a lot of knowledge that only I would know of the top of my head

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • L'Oreal as a whole are very hot on development so off a lot of training in that regard. I was very lucky in the fact my manager was very supportive of my growth and development. Also my wider team were always sources of knowledge and support that I could always call on. Support was never lacking at L'Oreal for me. There is also a lot of guidance on how to develop your career both internal and externally

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I worked in the Consumer Product Division within L'Oreal and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It is a very 'we are in this together' environment. You are surrounded by talented, hardworking, motivated individuals all striving to perform their best for the company which is a great energy to be around. It is also a very fun and social working environment with a lot of the staff being quite young. The company also places a high importance on mental health and sustainability and this can be seen in the culture.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Reflecting back on the year, in all honesty I found the first 6 months quite tough and stressful, however the last 6 months have been a lot more positive and I have enjoyed myself and will be sad to go. The first 6 month were tough as I was learning how to do the job and the work load was high however as soon as I made this aware to my team there was an instant change in my experience and they supported me in developing my time management skills

  • 7. Would you recommend L'Oreal to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
  • L'Oreal is very much a people company so I think it is quite important to convey that in your interview. It is very important that you are passionate about the industry as you will be surrounded by people who are passionate and the same will be expected of you. Also there are days where the workload will be heavy or you get a but stressed and those days will be a lot easier if you are passionate and motivated about the company
