    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role is to support the Commercial Planning & Planning manager to support sales growth and drive business development in our Fleet customer portfolios. This involves conducting data collation, interrogation and analysis of different channels of the Fleet business. I also complete testing, auditing and reconciling processes owned by the Commercial Planning & Pricing team.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot both in hard and soft skills. In terms of hard skills, my data analysis, problem-solving and the ability to multi-task have significantly improved with how big the car financing industry is. In terms of soft skills, I have learnt a lot more about excel skills, working in a team and collaborating with different functions of the business.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was surprised by how much responsibilities I was given as an undergraduate. I was given multiple tasks that I solely own. This has given me room to improve the existing procedures for better efficiency. I also have to complete a lot of ad hoc reporting on the profitability and performance of different areas of the Fleet business.

VWFS has also provided me with plenty of eLearning resources to have a better understanding of the business such as different product types and how the business function as a whole.
