    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Investigating day to day cybersecurity threats - (e.g Phishing Emails), review any security incidents and monitoring them. Close collaboration with most IT teams is required, due to the importance of patching software on time. Monitoring vulnerabilities and risk related to IT systems. Supply-chain security and supplier investigations and external services.

  • I've learned loads of technical skills - mostly related to IT systems around me, along with a lot of soft skill to be able to collaborate with teams around me. I've had a better understanding of real world security threats.

  • A fair amount of responsibility was placed upon me, mostly to take care of tasks that I was assigned.

  • A lot of support and guidance was given to me to be able to understand everything about the job, along with plenty of guidance to perform my tasks. If I had any questions regarding my job, a thorough explanation was given on why I was performing said task and the impact of it.

  • Integrity seems to be a large part of VWFS and all people I've collaborated with showed integrity

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I've enjoyed my placement a lot. It gave me an opportunity to be able to explore not only my interest in the team I was working in, but also the wider department, with plenty of opportunities to move around and shadow most workloads of other teams. Overall I believe the collaborations between the department was great and it allowed me to make the most out it.
