    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On a day to day basis I would do general admin tasks such as sendouts to retailers in order to boost sales, support my 3 different managers in their tasks as well as ensure that the cupbaord was always fully stocked with our newest products. My tasks also included interactions with various teams in order to complete tasks and heavily relied on my soft and hard skills.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed my people skills in order to complete tasks that require me to work closely with other members of the team. Furthermore, I have developed my IT skills as this is a strong requirement at L'Oreal, this was done through many trainings. Finally I have developed my time management skills very well with the use of excel trackers and regular meetings which I set, ensuring a high quality of work.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was very much surprised with the amount of responsibility that I was given during my placement, and whilst this was a bit overwhelming at the beginning, I am glad that I was given the freedom I did to be creative as I think this led me to produce the best work I could've possibly done.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was heavily supported during my placement from my peers. Having 3 managers meant that there was always someone to turn to and made the experience very enjoyable. I never had a case of being lost or not knowing who to turn to in order to solve my issue's. They were always available and ready with solutions.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement very much. I was given the licence to experiment which I don't think many companies allow you to do. My work was flexible to my interests which is another aspect of the placement worth calling out, I never found it hard to get to work without a smile on my face. The experience to work with so many different type of people is really unique to L'Oreal

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
  • Come to the placement with an open mind. A problem always has a solution it just depends how hard you want to work on finding it, that's the attitude you should come to work with every day. Take every opportunity to get involved in all social events and team projects, because before you know it, it will be all over and you will be leaving the company. Have no regrets, you are there for you.
