    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I organise and conduct multiple product launches for each of the brands I manage that are rolled out across Irish grocery, pharmacy, and online retailer landscapes throughout the year. I worked on everything from Point of Sale stands to TV advertising content to working with influencers’ advocacy posts for these launches. I also communicate with the team to support launches, running of the accounts and implement marketing strategies

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt and developed my presentation skills. I have learnt how to speak in front of a group, acquire and retain their attention and how to make my presentation engaging. I have learnt the importance of tone of voice and eye contact. I have learnt how to control the speed of my speech, how and when to use my hands and how to not overload slides with information.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I had the same level of responsibility as a Junior product brand manager. I was responsible for the artwork of point of sale stands, ordering the stands and ensuring they were delivered to the warehouse and sent out to retailers on time. I had the responsibility of looking after media plans and ensuring suppliers were invoicing the correct amount and paid in a timely fashion

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I was supported by the wider team as they offered to help or answer any queries or issues I had. My line manager was available at scheduled and ad hoc times. The covid restrictions and working from home made communication challenging at times, but overall support was great.
