    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role was within the LPD division as a supply chain intern, there are several responsibilities that you undertake within this role, I have listed a description of the role below. 1) Liaising with European factories, international third party suppliers and other teams internally to maximise product availability. 2) Communicating with the Market Supply Logistics (MSL) to foresee any possible delivery issues between the international factories and Distribution Centres which may impact the UK or the International Zone Logistics team. 3) Working closely with Marketing and Commercial teams in the UK or International Zones to understand the need for stock levels and therefore accurately forecast the potential of our products and maximise service levels to our customers. 4) Management of daily reporting on behalf of the planning team & slow-moving stocks. Building and developing relationships with customers to understand demand and resolve any operational issues which may occur. 5)Drive Collaborative Projects - Focus on improving efficiencies within the current way of working and identify what opportunities there are to make our ways of working more efficient whilst maintaining the level of service required daily. Identify key projects to work on with your accounts to improve the service we deliver but also exploring opportunities to develop our relationship with these customers further.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • There are several technical and transferable skills that I have learned whilst being within this role, the main skill that I can take away from this for all future prospects would be stakeholder management during project management. Stakeholders are the most important aspect during the project as it is essential to project their views on the end product.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • The best aspect of my time as loreal would be that I was treated like a full-time employee. You are slowly given more and more responsibilities during your 6 months training period which means that you can slowly take grasp of each responsibility before you are given another. By the end of the 6 months training period, you are in control various aspects within your area.
