    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Collecting and consolidating distributor data and presenting it to the team and often senior management and Japanese colleagues. The data collected includes wholesales and registration data, the aging of distributor network units on stock and Cafe (emissions target) data.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • My presenting skills have improved considerably due to regularly presenting my own data in meetings with senior management and Japanese colleagues. I have also greatly improved my excel and my data analysis skills along with my understanding of how a team works in a global organisation.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given the responsibility to collect, consolidate and present my own data with limited monitoring from my line manager. I was also tasked with being the main point of contact for the distributors, sorting out some of their issues and regularly requesting data and information from them.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support in the beginning as a lot of my work is systematic and requires a specific way of doing the task to ensure accuracy. I was given this support to gain confidence in these methods and then the responsibility to carry this out but whenever I needed help, it was always available.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture at Honda is always present, it is a happy welcoming place and the people are much the same. It is a Japanese orientated culture and that is clear in everyday tasks and work.

  • I enjoyed the responsibility that I was given to be a significant part of the team where the work in meaningful and important to the functioning of the department and the company as a whole. I also enjoyed the experience of working in this team and learning the dynamics of a team in a corporation.
