    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Working closely alongside the HR Operations & Associate Relations Section Manager, Recruitment and other members of the HR team, the role will provide a full generalist Human Resources support to all areas of the business (Honda Motor Europe, Honda Motor Europe - UK and Honda Finance Europe). Main Responsibilities: - Monitor the HR inbox and respond to queries - Coordinate the onboarding and leavers process - Prepare HR related documents, such as contract of employments and job change letters - Managing the HR database - Support the monthly payroll process - Organising the undergraduate recruitment process for 28+ roles - Help coordinate the Long Service Award Process - Create monthly presentations with the other HR Undergraduates to the HR team on HR related topics, such as implicit bias and change management

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility in my placement and was made to feel as a valued member of the HR team. A large part of my role involved handling confidential information and I was a trusted to do this. We were always encouraged to give our feedback and to question why we do things the way we do.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support and guidance from the whole HR team, but especially from my manager. My manager was very approachable and always gave us help and guidance when needed. I had quarterly placement review meetings with my manager, giving me an insight into the appraisal process. In these meetings, my manager and I would discuss my key targets, how I feel I am doing and any areas I wanted to improve upon or new areas of HR i wanted to learn about.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Covid made it challenging to experience the general atmosphere, however the HR team were always so welcoming throughout. The company culture is very strong in Honda and we had monthly site meetings where the whole business could get together.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at Honda and I would recommend it to anyone. The HR team were so supportive and approachable throughout my placement year and ensured that I had a really positive year. I would really recommend the HR placement year to anyone interested in HR as it has given me a great understanding of the scope of HR and it has given me the skills and confidence needed for post uni.
