    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Day-to-day I set bespoke residual values on vehicles, for example on high end cars which have a lot of additional spec. Along side this, I review the company's current position on all models to ensure we stay competitive as well as limiting the amount of risk the company is open to.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • While on my placement i have learnt many new skills and developed a lot of my existing ones. A new skill which i have learnt is good understanding of Tableau. This has then allowed me to use this tool to help build a new resource for my team, to make our work more efficient. I have also developed my communication skills, with help from the company by providing external training courses.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a reasonable amount of responsibility at the start of my placement year and took on more as the time went on and I got a better understanding of the role and became more confident in it. A specific project where i had a lot of responsibility is when i proposed a change to a current process to make it more efficient by using a new data analysis tool.

This is also true for my team, who were very friendly and helpful, especially when i first started and was getting to grips with the role. Whenever i had question or problem they were always ready and willing to help.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Volkswagen Financial Services
  • My advise would be to go in with an open mind and to always ask questions if you don't know or understand something and to never feel like you are annoying your colleagues by constantly asking questions. In hindsight i wish i had asked my manager if there was any skills i could work on before starting to help me in my role.
