    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I was part of the marketing intelligence team which often involved working on things related to customer experience. I spent a lot of time creating and distributing surveys then analysing the results as they came in, then formulating this analysis into powerpoint to be shared with other employees to help them achieve strategic goals or see where focus is required. Other tasks included competitor and market research.

In particular, I've massively improved my communication and presentation skills as you are given real responsibility that requires you to communicate and present to senior members of the company, which is great experience.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, everyone is so kind and welcoming so you are eased into it but you are given real responsibility very early on which is great as it makes you instantly feel part of the team. I was involved in numerous projects that helped to steer strategic focus as well as working with and presenting to members of the senior leadership team.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Everyone is so friendly and always happy to help so you can genuinely ask anyone for help if you come across any problems. Travelport also issue all of us with a 'mentor' who we can go to with anything which I found incredibly helpful, especially in the early days. As part of the programme we also complete a portfolio which we go through with the intern panel who support us and set us goals.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed this placement and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The work aspect is great as you are given real work and real responsibility so it genuinely feels like you're contributing to the business. But also the social side is great, you are set projects with the other interns which allows you to work with each other even if you're from different departments, this helps to build friendships.
