Commercial Marketing Summer Placement Intern Review

Mostly working on the group project which allowed you to interact with a range of roles from the different Centrica brands and gain a real understanding of the business. We also had different sessions organised for us covering different commercial marketing areas, the energy sector, communication guidance and many more. The diverse opportunities meant no day was the same and you can gain a great deal of experience.

I have developed new skills in commercial awareness and business communication. I have also taken my existing skills of team work, self awareness, problem solving and communication to a whole new level. Finally, I have further developed my knowledge in commercial marketing and been able to implement and analyse different marketing techniques in a range of brands.

Your group is given a lot of responsibility during the internship and with it being virtual, it allowed us to improve our self management greatly. However, we were always provided with support and feedback along the way so we could continuously improve.

We were offered a range of support and guidance. The project had it's own grad support and commercial marketing interns had buddies and grad talent managers that were really helpful and offered great advice. The whole of Centrica offered support and when I would reach out to someone in the company they were always happy to help. The extensive networks allowed anyone to get involved and really emphasised the support.

Really friendly and inclusive, I felt supported the whole internship. Despite being virtual, a range of social events and activities were arranged so all interns regularly kept in contact. Different company networks also aid the diverse and inclusive culture of Centrica, there are many to be involved with.

I have really enjoyed my placement at Centrica. In particular the learning opportunities presented were like no other and really exceeded my expectations. The teamwork, company culture and support were what I valued the most. I also really enjoyed learning about the range of graduate roles and future opportunities at Centrica.

Get involved wherever you can and don't be afraid to reach out from the beginning, everyone is really friendly and welcomes questions. In terms of the application process, research the different brands of Centrica and stay up to date with news surrounding the energy sector.
