Overview
Most of my days are spent either fixing bugs with a customers solution or implementing new functionality to meet given customer requirements. I use SQL and C# on a daily basis and often work with others from the company to find a solution. I have lots of communication with the customers as they report the issues and give us the requirements.
Skills
I have developed in many different ways throughout the year for both technical skills and soft skills. My communication skills have improved for both communication with my team and with customers. Problem-solving has been a key skill that I have developed since joining as I have improved the way that I approach issues.
Responsibilities
I have been given a good amount of responsibility during my placement as I have had a large amount of autonomy and worked on key areas that could have caused huge issues if I wasn't careful.
Support & Guidance
My Mentor would frequently meet with me to discuss how I was getting on. They would also get feedback from my managers to let me know what I was doing well and how I could improve.
Culture
Everyone is very friendly and willing to help so it's a nice environment to work in. The company also runs big social events that everyone is invited to that include food and games.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement, all the teams I have been apart of have been a pleasure to work with. The work has been challenging at times but also I have learnt a lot.
Yes
My main advice would be to not worry about your technical knowledge, the company are more interested in your attitude to learning/working so if you can try to show this in your application/interview then it will help a lot.
