The Role
I extremely enjoy the culture and the game I am working on. Everything is so interesting, it's more like a passion rather than job. Was a huge fan of the game so this is literally the dream came true
We have a retro session every week and I made it to the praise list almost every time. The artists and designers in my team appreciated me a lot for providing dev support even though I'm just an intern. It really motivates me to work harder.
We have a tons of channels in slack for you to seek help from. On a daily basis, I reach out to a lot of people in the team regarding different issues, I even reached out to a steam not in London as they have more experience with certain issue. People are extremely willing to help no matter how busy they are and it's a very great culture of King.
During the last month of internship, I was the only dev in the team. Artists and designers find me on a daily basis to help them with their bugs. On a busy day, I would have to switch between four or five branches to solve everyone's issue and attend multiple meetings. I enjoyed it a lot though.
As mentioned above, I was entrusted a lot of responsibilities although I'm just an intern and I fully enjoyed that. I had made a few candies by myself and they went live. In the meantime I also created some bugs which went live, felt really bad but no one blamed/ pressured me.
I learnt a lot in game development process and C++
