    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall this was a great placement. Working at Warner Bros UK (based at Warner House in London) you gain so much insight into the entertainment industry. I was given real responsibility from day 1 which meant I was really able to develop my skills. The culture and atmosphere is also very inviting, which allowed me to really get to know the people I was working with. I think this culture is such an important part of the job.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Whilst working at Warner Bros UK I was surrounded by numerous colleges who were supportive throughout the placement. I had a really great team who had been working together for a number of years, so It took some time before I truly felt like I was part of the team. I was able to get feedback and praise throughout the year which is always very encouraging. I also had a really good social with the other interns.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I worked closely with my line manager on a number of projects and tasks throughout the year. I was able to get feedback in weekly one to one sessions, however I often had to push to get any critical feedback from my manager or my team. This was difficult but also reassuring that there was no bad feedback that came to mind. I would always suggest trying to get as much feedback as you can from your team.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The year started off with a very manageable workload which definitely built up my confidence with the job. However moving into Q4 the workload quickly increased and this heavy workload was sustained for the rest of the placement. It was good that I always having something to do but as you can imagine this did cause increased pressure and stressed. This was of course made worse by the impact of Covid-19 which increased the Admin side of the job.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Working at Warner Bros UK meant that I had a lot of real responsibility in all of my daily tasks. Working in my specific role of Warner Bros UK Home Entertainment Supply Chain meant that mos of the decisions I made had a direct consequence. I enjoyed having this extra responsibility as it meant that I felt like the work I did was really important and that I mattered to the team and the business.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Working at Warner Bros UK meant that I was automatically enrolled in numerous different training courses. As an intern these were: Presenting Me; Personality Training and also Project Thinking Skills. These were provided by the Warner Bros Learning and Development Team and I found them really useful.
