Creative & Production Intern

I would definitely say there was an initial difficult transition period in me adjusting to working full time from education, but this didn't last long as my team, colleagues and fellow interns were all encouraging, helpful and made my life easier in many aspects. The internship itself is quite fulfilling and I was kept fairly busy with jobs I quite enjoyed. If anything, there was times it didn't feel like 'work' at all.

My colleagues were extremely approachable and whenever I completed a task which would help the team, they were always gratuitous and vocal to management about how I was considered to be a good asset to the team. My team including managers, were always quick to highlight any positive feedback directed to me.

During the first three months of my internship, my managers made themselves available to me bi-weekly for one to one catch ups to monitor my progress and offer me guidance where necessary. After this period, I was able to then schedule meetings around my tasks to check in when I felt like it.

I would say that throughout the duration of my internship, my work load varied day to day, however I was responsible for many tasks, which kept me busy and I worked autonomously once my team had trained me to standard. I would say that my mornings were generally the busiest hour to hour, which left me the afternoon to go over my tasks making sure my output was up to par; prioritising is definitely key!

Throughout the duration of my internship, I was given a lot of responsibilities; I proved my competence from day one, which made me stand out to senior members of the team, who later asked if it would be possible to expand my role and increase my work load. Initially I was hesitant to do more than what I signed up for, but I definitely feel that all of the work I have done whilst being an intern has prepared me for the creative field beyond being an intern.

From day one, this internship has thrust me into industry standards and practices so I feel that when I am moving on to another company I will be able to comprehend and confidently fulfil the roles and tasks being asked of me. e.g. this internship has helped me to better my interpersonal skills, production expertise and overall my time management.

The general atmosphere was quite friendly, everyone is on the same wavelength of creating high production value content, so people are quite approachable, friendly and lighthearted. Closer to deadlines, the office is naturally a little more serious and work centred. Generally, there's a lot of conversation and socialising for different teams.

I think that the organisation for the internship was fairly good. Alongside your department, there are regular sessions to see what the interns in the other departments are working on, in addition to, a question and answer session with the department manager to learn about the operations of different departments in the company. There are also employability workshops throughout the year to prepare you for life post-interning.

There are several schemes ran throughout the duration of the internship, to help develop interns outside of their departments. e.g. workshops on public speaking and online classes for learning more about tech. Furthermore, there are also arrangements made within the first months for each intern to be assigned a mentor within the company to get the most out of the experience.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the work olympics (similar to an office sports day), there are also five official days you can use to volunteer in local initiatives, also there are frequently events that are advertised in house for employees to take place in new incentives.
