    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Enjoyable insight day, adapted well to having to move to online due to coronavirus. Informative to EY as a whole, assurance and women in the workplace. There was such a wide range of speakers at different levels of their career and coming from different backgrounds. This was very helpful for providing a deep insight to EY in a short time period.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Only a one day event so not very applicable, but everyone we heard from was very welcoming and open to questions. Asked us questions and gave us tailored advice which made me feel like they were interested in us as people. Opportunity to fast-track made me feel like they valued how much work we put in to get there.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was lots of guidance and support given during this insight day. One speaker discussed the importance of mentorship and how it can be used to advance your career. Another speaker focused on the unique struggles of women in business and how to deal with imposter syndrome in the workplace.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I do not believe the skills we worked on will help my degree in particular although there was advice on interview tips and building confidence in the workplace. Furthermore there was lots of information given to set us up for success if we decide to come back for the summer internship.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Insight was very well structured especially given they had to move to a virtual event. We were given a detailed itinerary at the start of the day so we knew what was coming up. Also they used breaks and a variety of speakers to make the day go by quickly and enjoyably.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Very pleasant atmosphere. All the speakers were very easy to talk to and approachable for questions. Also all the other people completing the insight were great, and asked interesting questions which provided a greater insight to EY. The welcoming atmosphere created in this event made EY seem like the kind of place I would love to work at.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It was only a one-day event so they would not be able to invest that much into us. But given the number of speakers and how much time was put into the event it was clear they were already invested. Furthermore the opportunity to fast-track to a summer internship shows they are already invested in us as people.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • 3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight was very helpful in understanding company culture as they described lots of the company and social events that take place. Furthermore being able to observe the different speakers and how they interacted with us and each other it was evident it is a very friendly and welcoming culture.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The insight day was very valuable for helping me decide on my future career path. They provided lots of information about EY to help determine if EY would be a company I would enjoy working at. They also provided lots of information on Assurance to help me decide if it would be the area of the business I would like to work in.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Originally EY offered to reimburse travel expenses to their London office and provide a hotel to stay in the night before the event if required. Although the event was moved online therefore they were not required to provide any reimbursement for travel costs. They did not pay as we did not complete any work for the company during this day.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There was lots of different speakers throughout the day, many of whom recommended we add them on LinkedIn and reach out with any further questions we may think of after the even had ended. Although it would have been hard to network with other employees as it was a virtual event.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. It was incredibly informative about EY as a firm and provided a great insight to their culture. Also a wide range of speakers provided lots of great information about assurance with a great focus on what is what like to be a woman working at EY.
